Metal Bonded Rubber Parts – Strength and Flexibility, Engineered as One

There are applications where rubber alone isn't enough. And there are applications where metal alone isn't enough. Metal bonded rubber parts exist precisely for those situations — combining the load-bearing rigidity of metal with the vibration absorption, sealing capability, and flexibility that only rubber can provide.

It sounds straightforward in principle. In practice, getting the bond right — consistently, across production volumes — takes real process knowledge and compound expertise. That's something Polystar Technologies has been building since 1997.

What Are Metal Bonded Rubber Parts?

The process involves bonding a rubber compound directly onto a metal substrate — typically steel, aluminium, or brass — through a combination of surface preparation, bonding agents, heat, and pressure. The finished part isn't rubber sitting against metal. It's rubber and metal acting as a single, unified component.

That distinction matters. A properly bonded part won't delaminate under load. It won't creep, shift, or separate under thermal cycling or sustained vibration. It behaves as one material because, at the interface, it effectively is.

This level of integrity is what makes metal bonded rubber parts the preferred choice in applications where assembly-based alternatives — press fits, clamps, or adhesives applied after moulding — introduce too much risk of failure over time.

How Polystar Approaches Metal Bonded Rubber Production

We don't treat bonding as a secondary step. Surface preparation, primer selection, compound compatibility, and mould design all influence the quality and durability of the final bond — and we work through each of these with care.

With over 250 active compounds developed in-house, we have the formulation flexibility to match rubber properties — hardness, compression set, chemical resistance, temperature range — to the specific demands of each application. Our ISO certification reflects the quality controls we maintain throughout every stage of production.
